Elvis may not have meant much to Chuck D, but Kanye West is apparently pretty fond of him. Yeezy revealed he wanted to be “the king” during his acceptance speech at the American Music Awards (11/23). West took home trophies for favorite male rap/hip-hop artist and favorite rap/hip-hop album for Graduation.
“I’d like to thank everyone who accepted me trying to break new boundaries in music,” West said during his speech. “It’s our responsibility as musicians to keep pushing each other. … We will be the new Beatles, the new (Jimi) Hendrix. I want to be Elvis.”
Though thankful, the Louis Vutton Don shared his plans to hand his awards to Lil Wayne, stating he felt it was Weezy’s year, not his. The Awards marked West’s first wins at the AMAs. The Chicago rapper/producer vowed to never return to the AMAs after Gretchen Wilson beat him for best new artist back in 2004.

Fox Sports.com reported that Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg and spent the night in the hospital. And according to a Hood-Hop snitch the “accident” occurred shortly after Plaxico and some pals got into a confrontation at the nightclub.
Burress, who was not expected to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday because of a hamstring injury, was not at team meetings and did not attend the team’s Saturday walkthrough.
So far the Giants organization has not commented on the story.

Radio One’s fourth annual Dirty Awards ended abruptly this evening when two separate altercations erupted reportedly between rapper Shawty Lo and members of the Grand Hustle camp (November 24).
An eye witness told Hood-Hop that the tension between the two crews mounted during Shawty Lo’s performance, which included a diss version of Grand Hustle artist Yung LA’s song “Ain’t I.”
As Lo performed his version with a chorus “Don’t I,” an audience member identified by an eyewitness as Capitol recording artist Alfamega, allegedly threw a chair onto the stage.
At that point, witnesses say another artist signed to the T.I.-helmed label stormed the stage, at which point authorities proceeded to break a fight.
T.I. himself took the stage shortly after the fight to accept an award following, a reported private conversation with Shawty-Lo, in which the Grammy Award-winning rapper/actor allegedly insisted once again, that the two end their long-running beef.
He proceeded to denounce the violence and negativity and assured the Dirty Awards audience that he did not condone the fighting.
Shortly thereafter, however, a second fight broke out as T.I. performed his verse from “Ain’t I,” allegedly substituting some lyrics with verbal jabs at Shawty Lo, with whom he has had an unpleasant relationship throughout the year.
Towards the end of the performance, another member of the Grand Hustle camp allegedly jumped off stage and assaulted a man witnesses said was Shawty Lo’s brother.
Police officers then halted the awards show, using pepper spray to end the fight.
While the Dirty Awards audience was immediately evacuated, witnesses say other altercations may have occurred outside of the event.
More details as this story develops.

President George W. Bush has pardoned rapper John Forte, an affiliate of the Fugees, who has been serving prison time for smuggling drugs, sources told Hood-Hop.
Forte was one of 14 persons that Bush has pardoned or granted commuted prison sentences.
This wave of White House pardons is Bush’s latest, as he has less than two months in his presidency. A pardon cannot be overruled.
Forte was arrested at Newark International Airport in 2000 and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to distribute. Police caught him accepting a briefcase with about $1.4 million worth of liquid cocaine in it.
Forte was hit with a 14-year sentence in a federal penitentiary under minimum sentencing laws even though it was his first offense and he was a non-violent offender. He began his bid in jail in 2001 and has fought the laws vehemently.
Through the ordeal, he maintained his innocence and turned down a plea deal.
John Forte has released two albums, Poly Sci and I, John.
John found an ally in legendary singer Carly Simon and her son Ben Taylor, both close friends. Forte lived at Simon’s estate in Martha’s Vineyard for about six weeks in 1999 and even spent the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays with the family. Simon and Taylor have lobbied on Forte’s behalf since he was incarcerated.
Much speculation has been made of others Bush may opt to pardon. Most of these involved those that government employees that may have unjustly interrogated suspected terrorists in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.
A pardon of these cases would severely impede president elect Barack Obama from investigating such crimes

If the couple who makes millions together, stays together then Jay-Z and Beyoncé have a long (and rich) future as Mr. and Mrs. According to Forbes, the hip-hop king and R&B queen collectively made $162 million in the past year, topping all the other celeb couples who also make big bucks. Will and Jada Pinkett Smith took the No. 2 slot, with $85 million earned together, while David and Victoria Beckham rounded out the top three with annual earnings of $58 million. “Naturally, powerful people tend to gravitate toward other powerful people,” clinical psychologist and celebrity researcher Jim Houran tells the magazine.

T-Pain is finally cashing in on Auto-Tune. Artists like Lil Wayne and Kanye West asked the Ring Leader for his blessing before using the instrument, but Diddy is taking it one step further.
As previously mentioned, the Bad Boy mogul’s upcoming album will be entirely sung using Auto-Tune. Word is the Puffster will be crediting T-Pain by giving him royalties on the album.
“I gave T-Pain one point on my [upcoming] album for using the Auto-Tune,” Diddy revealed on Sunday night during “Total Finale Live.”
“Sign the papers,” Pain added, confirming Puff’s revelation. “Diddy actually gave me royalties on this album just for using Auto-Tune. He signed the contract and everything. If I can do that with Diddy, somebody else better be signing something. It’s Diddy. He didn’t have to involve me at all. … I’m writing and producing on his album, and he gave me extra royalties on top of that for using something I just brought back.”

Looks like R&B singer Rowland may have a new career on the horizon. Hood-Hop has learned that Kelly has tenatively agreed to star in the sequel to the hit movie Dreamgirl … DREAMGIRLS 2But don’t get too excited Kelly fans. Word is that neither Beyonce nor J Hud have signed on. And the producers have yet to put together the financing for the film.

Hood-Hop may now have a favorite hip hop artist - NY rapper Jim Jones. Check out some of the mess he’s talking in the latest issue of Complex Magazine:
Jim Jones on Kanye West
Kanye is somebody you can just punch his chest old-school style, cave his chest in and sh*t like that. Like don’t ever, ever, ever talk about me again in your life! It’s just a joke to me. I’m just having fun. I heard him ranting and raving about my name and sh*t. How would I look having an issue with Kanye? I’d love to work with him. I need a beat from him. I think that’s why I’m most mad. Matter fact, I’ma f*ck you up if you don’t give me a beat! [Laughs.]
Jimmy on Jay-z’s swag
Jay-Z never sells as much as Kanye. Jay-Z wishes he could sell as many records as Kanye. So he’s only beating him with terrible swag. Like over there, their swag is terrible. They having a terrible swag. It’s really bad over there.
Jim Jones on ditching Cam to appear on stage with 50 cent
Jim Jones: He’s questioning my loyalty? He was questioning himself. At that point in time when I did [appear onstage with 50], I was doing all business. I was doing what was best for Jimmy, what was best for my career. It was in my best interest to do publicity stunts and get hype. He was nowhere to be found, so who is he to be questioning what I was doing?
This is why we ROLLSSS wit Jimmy!!!
